Fullwoodhead Dairy Supplies Ltd cover the whole of Scotland and North of England offering slurry management options with products from DairyPower.

Firstly, Dairypower’s Smart Slurry Aeration System which is suitable and successful in beef, dairy and pig industries, regardless of slurry density. The Smart Slurry Aeration System keeps slurry in a homogeneous, pumpable state and will ensure complete consistency and even distribution of nutrients.

We are aware of the recent and substantial increases in fertiliser prices. The Smart Slurry Aeration System will reduce the amount spent on chemical fertilisers and make slurry more valuable with the increase in nitrogen values, especially ammonia nitrogen.

Each system is designed to the specific size and shape of the slurry storage and can be retrofitted to any tank, regardless of size and structure. Therefore, regardless of your farming set-up, Smart Slurry Aeration is worth considering as it could be perfect for you.

Ewan MacTaggart who farms with brothers Matthew and Tom at Rascarrel Farm, Auchencairn, installed the Dairypower Smart Slurry Aeration System in their cow shed slurry pit last year.

“We had never had a suspended shed before and were looking for ways at stirring the slurry without causing disruption or danger within the shed. Dairypower Smart Slurry Aeration System was an easy choice, it mixes for 30 minutes every six hours and improves the quality of the slurry for spreading. There is noticeable difference in the performance of the slurry spread from the aerated tank with a more even cover on the fields and better regrowth. This year we purchased one load of fertiliser compared with three which we had previously. We are very happy with how the installation went and how the system is performing,” commented Ewan.

The Jamieson family from Roundbush, Annan, chose Fullwoodhead and DairyPower because of their ability to be a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ for the Slurry Management in their new heifer shed.

“It was a massive benefit and selling point to us to be able to have one company take care of all the Slurry Management. The purpose of the new shed for heifers was for it to be as efficient as possible for labour, while still maintaining a high level of comfort and care for the animals. The slurry being scraped safely and regularly with Dairypower Eco-Clean Rope Scrapers, as well as the tank being aerated with Dairypower Smart Slurry Aeration System are a big part in helping the efficiency and safety of the shed.

“The price and quality of the DairyPower equipment set them apart from the rest, as well as offering a solution for every aspect of slurry in our shed. The efficiency of the double winch reducing power usage and limiting the electrical work required was another cost saving for us,” said John.

The Dairypower Eco-Clean Rope/Cable Scrape System is ideal for cleaning up to two passages with the same drive unit controlling both scrapers, using Dairypower’s patented double-winch system saving on time and labour as one scraper cleans while the other is backing up. The double-winch system eliminates the need for running two independent winch units on installation. It can also use a combination of high-quality robust winches to clean long slurry passages up to 200 metres in length.

The hydraulic power pack is driven by a low-consumption electric motor and the whole system is controlled by a user friending electronic control panel which a farmer can easily set to operate on both manual and automatic functions. The automatic function can be set to operate at various hourly intervals throughout the 24-hour cycle.

David Hyslop has installed the DairyPower Eco-Clean Rope Scraper in his dry cow shed at Upper Brydekirk, Annan.

“The shed was previously scraped by tractor, so we have noticed a big difference in cleaner cows, a cleaner environment and noticeable improvements in cases of dermatitis using the scraper on a four hour timer.”

There is also the Dairypower Pro-Clean Ratchet Scraper which is suited to any climate, old or new sheds, cattle, pig or poultry farming, abattoirs or sewage plants. The Dairypower heavy-duty robust scraper blade is hot-dip galvanised with a low and smooth profile, designed to prevent animal injuries. The scraper blade is driven by a patented double spring-loaded tongue which keeps the rail clean, preventing a build-up of slurry and allowing the scraper to operate in extreme weather conditions.

Fullwoodhead Dairy Supplies Ltd are able to supply, install and provide support for all three products across Scotland and the North of England.
